Gary Buck

Gary Buck is a highly-successful, seasoned, and proven User Experience (UX) Strategy & Design expert and practitioner who brings over 30 years of diverse experience to the most difficult digital product & service challenges. 

After success as a scholarship student-athlete at West Virginia University, Gary began his career as a digital hardware engineer, designing complex communications systems for defense contractors throughout the USA East Coast, Germany, and Silicon Valley. He returned to college to study Graphic Design at San Jose State University, and thus found himself in the right place at the right time in the San Francisco Bay Area during the explosive advent of personal computers, interactive multimedia, internet, and the world wide web. 

Gary expanded his professionally horizons in creatively diverse roles at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising, CKS Interactive, and Eagle River Interactive (ERI), eventually taking a leadership role at ERI as they merged with Agency.com. He served as Vice President, Creative Services for Agency.com, performing as Global Creative Director and Information Architect on website redesigns for 3M, Sprint, Hyatt, and General Motors, while building an outstanding 30-member creative team in Colorado. 

He then opened up shop as an independent consultant, successfully executing the UX strategy & design for dozens of large-scale website, digital product, and intranet projects around the world, including Walmart, Applied Materials, Allergan, Legrand, and Aimco. 

Gary returned to full-time UX leadership roles in San Francisco at Autodesk and Booyah (mobile gaming), eventually returning to Colorado with Deloitte Digital as Manager of their new “Business Experience” discipline. At Deloitte, Gary led the CX/UX efforts on critical web projects for Principal Financial Group, Wells Fargo, and Salesforce.com. Recently, he served as Chief Product Officer for Rezora, a SaaS startup focused on real estate marketing tools.

With all of those experiences and lessons in hand, Gary launched Spelunk, a UX Strategy & Design consulting practice, and is engaged with a wide variety of projects for clients, large & small, around the globe, including major brands such as Verifone, Daltile, OCCU, The Greenbrier Resort, as well as donating design efforts to a variety of non-profit charities.
